Jigawa State Police command last Thursday killed a
suspected armed robber and recovered a Honda Accord (End Of Discussion)
snatched at FCT Abuja along Kiyawa, Buji area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Theophilus
disclosed this while showing journalists the body of the suspect and the car
recovered, saying that the police got intelligence report that the suspect, who
snatched the car from Abuja, was on his way to Jigawa to get a buyer for it.
Theophilus noted that the operation was successful,
with the assistance of the popular hunter, Alhaji Ali Kwara, adding that an
operative disguised as a buyer and the suspect decided to bring the car with
registration number RSH 748 SG down to Jigawa state in an attempt to sell the
car.
According to him “while our informant was closely
monitoring him, a team of anti-robbery personnel, supported by Alhaji Ali
Kwara, accosted the armed robber along the road and pretended to be a buyer of
the car.
In the course of bargaining, the armed robber realised
the intention of the men to grab him, so he brought out a gun and
started shooting at my men. As a result, the armed robber was gunned
down”.
The police boss maintained that the items discovered from
the armed robber included the car, one Barreta pistol with four rounds of live
ammunition and the sum of N5,500.
He solicited the support and cooperation of
the public through giving information to the police about happenings in
their communities, for the protection of lives and property in the state.
The commissioner warned those with criminal minds to
leave Jigawa state or be apprehended.
