Ciara has nothing to hide, and while her romance with Future may attract peering paparazzi and juicy blog headlines, the "Goodies" singer refuses to mask her love.
"When you do step outside, you put yourself in a position to where people are going to be able to judge and they could criticize and they can give their opinion and that's something I used to always fear," CiCi told MTV News on April 22 during a trip to New York to promote her upcoming self-titled LP.
Late last year, the rumors that the pair was dating began to surface, with no confirmation from either Future or Ciara, but in January the "Same Damn Time" rapper opened up about his main squeeze, saying that Ciara makes him happy during an interview with Hot 107.9 in Atlanta.
Lately the two have been more open about their relationship in interviews, on Instagram and in music videos. Last week Ciara debuted the video for her single "Body Party" and in it Future plays her love interest. It's a huge step for the singer, who says she used to be more guarded in past relationships, with rappers Bow Wow and 50 Cent.
"That's where I am at this day and time in my life and I'm also with someone who makes me extremely comfortable to be that way, which is really important," she said of the Astronaut Kid.
"The way that he makes me feel, why not? If you love somebody you should express it, and now I understand that. There's nothing sexy about hiding your love. There's nothing sexy about people not acknowledging each other."
