Video and Photos : Justin Bieber Arrested For DUI

Updated — 2:19 p.m. ET

Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach and charged with DUI, resisting arrest and having an expired driver's license.

Justin was busted after he was observed drag racing at 4:13 a.m. on Thursday. This is the first time Bieber has been arrested. Fellow musician Khalil Sharieff was the other drag racer, driving a red Ferrari. Sharieff was also arrested for DUI and found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Television footage showed a police van believed to be carrying the pop star from a Miami Beach police station to a Miami-Dade County jail.

Bieber was wearing a red t-shirt in his police mug shot. He was smiling, his eyes appeared glazed and his hair was spiked up. Bieber’s mug shot was released by Miami Police following his arrest.

During a press conference, Raymond Martinez, Miami Beach Police Chief explained the circumstance of Bieber’s arrest:

“When approaching the car when he opened up the window and confronted Mr Bieber, he smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. Mr Bieber at that point was not cooperating with the officer’s instructions. The officer asked him to exit the vehicle, he was questioning why he was being stopped,” said Martinez.

“Ultimately he did step out of the vehicle, but would not follow the officer’s instructions, the officer at that time did place Mr Bieber under arrest,” he continued.

Bieber confirmed to police that he had consumed marijuana, prescription drugs and alcohol.
Police said the pop star was charged with resisting arrest without violence, as well as drag racing and driving under the influence (DUI).

Justin Bieber was seen 'crying his eyes out' following his arrest for drunk driving, resisting arrest and driving without a licence while allegedly drag racing in Miami on Thursday, People report.

The 19-year-old pop star had appeared to make light of his sentencing on Thursday after smiling in one of his mug shots, and waving to crowds of his fans after being released on bail.

However, a source has informed People that the singer's emotions became too much upon returning to the detention center.

Justin Bieber later faced a judge via video on Thursday afternoon in Miami, Florida following his DUI arrest after a drag race hours earlier.
