Watching the above video I just begin to wonder the type
of leaders we have in this country. Governor Adams Oshiomhole while
leading officials of Edo state to sanitize the city of Benin, came across
a widow roadside hawker. From the video it looks like the woman was trading in
a prohibited area.
The
poor widow knelt before the governor, begging for her means of livelihood to be
saved. She pleaded that she's widow. But her pleas fell on the governor's deaf
ear. Worst of all was the comment the Governor who was a former labour leader
said to this woman "you are a widow, go and die"!
I believe
there are better ways to punish people for their wrong doings. If she was asked
to pay a fine or something of that nature it would have been much better than
this humiliation.
But, the approach and the choice of words by the governor
was not the best for this situation.
