Professor Murtala Mohammed, a popular Mass Communication professor of the University of Maiduguri, has been killed by unidentified gunmen in Maiduguri today.
Mr. Mohammed who once served as the chief of staff to late Nigerian first lady, Stella Obasanjo was killed in front of his house in the troubled city of Mauduguri.
Professor Murtala had recently returned to Maiduguri to resume classes at the University of Maiduguri. He was 56 years old.
He is survived by his wife, resident in Jigawa and two kids. Motive for his murder remains yet unknown.
