Former Oyo State Governor, Rasheed Ladoja Loses Son

Adebola Ladoja, one of the sons of the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, yesterday lost his life in a ghastly auto crash in Lagos. The accident occurred on Eko Bridge.

The deceased, who was driving a Golf saloon car with registration number AKD 107 CJ, was said to have been on his way to Lagos Island when a DAF truck, with registration number JJJ 59 XA ran into his car.

According to an eyewitness account, the driver of the truck, identified as Justice Osaghai, who was on top speed, lost control and rammed into the median of the bridge before it eventually ran into Ladoja’s car.
The eyewitness who was identified as Femi Alonso, said: “The victim would have survived the crash if the first set of people that arrived the scene had attempted to carry out first aid treatment.
“Rather, they were more concerned with forming a ring around the victim and taking pictures. Some of them however prevented the driver of the truck from running away when he tried to.
Alonso said the intervention of the policemen and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASMA) saved the driver as the visibly furious mob was about to lynch him.
He said when rescue effort finally began, it took several hours before they could break into the vehicle, as the victim was trapped behind the wheel with blood gushing out of his head as a result of the impact he had with the front windshield.
Confirming the incident and the identity of the deceased, the state police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police,  said the accident occurred at about 3.30 p.m.
She said: “The accident occurred on Eko bridge when a Daf truck with registration number JJJ 59 XA driven by one Justice Oseghai ran into a Volkswagen Golf car with registration number AKD 107 CJ driven by one Adebola Ladoja, the son of the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja.
“The victim died on the spot. The corpse has been moved to the Lagos Island General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy while the truck driver is in police custody.
