One Californian mother publicly shamed her 11-year-old daughter for defying her and twerking at her school dance.

Frances Hena of Bakersfield, made 11-year-old Jamie Hena spend two hours on a busy street corner with a sign that read, 'I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at a school dance.'
Inspired by Miley Cyrus and her now infamous VMA performance with Robin Thicke last month, Jamie fell victim to the surge in popularity of the sexually suggestive dance, which involves thrusting movements of the dancers chest and hips.

'I want her to realize that she is just a child and that she can’t do that,' Francis Hena told ABC affiliate KERO.
Frances Hena said that she found out that her seventh-grade daughter performed the sexually explicit moves at her school dance through a friend.
She added that she is furious the school did not tell her and failed to understand the seriousness of an 11-year-old attempting the moves.

'I haven’t heard anything from the school still, and it’s just ridiculous to think that’s okay at a school dance,' she said.

'I’m also not sure my daughter realizes how seriously I take this.'
Addressing her daughter's acute embarrassment, Frances Hena said she hoped her actions would inspire other parents.

'It’s not something kids should be doing,' Hena said.
