Star Quest winners Crystals to tour Lagos clubs
Nigeria’s pop band, Crystals are all set for their first promotional tour.
Crystals, who won the 2012 edition of the popular Nigerian Breweries Plc sponsored band competition, Star Quest, will be embarking on a club tour across Lagos to promote their debut album ‘Elevated’.
‘Elevated’, an 11-track album, is the first from the band who had already put out two singles, ‘Gbe Sun Mo Mi’ and ‘Ringtone’ which have been enjoying heavy rotations on radio stations.
The tour which is a production of Now Muzik and Now Muzik En.Core will kick off on Wednesday, April 3 and end on the Saturday, April 6, 2013.
The clubs on the list are: Sub 69 Lounge, Magodo, Ember Creek, Ikoyi, Embarssy Lounge, Akoka and The Place, Lekki.
CEO of Now Muzik, Efe Omorogbe told NET of how the tour hopes to serve as a means of reaching out to the band’s teeming fans. ‘With this tour, we hope to get the fans of Crystals to have a one on one interaction with the band. They see them on TV, listen to their songs and watched them in big concerts, so it is just about time they get to meet with them on smaller platforms where they can get a feel of the Crystal experience’, he said.
Consisting of six members; rapper (Romeo), two female lead vocalists (Slimberry, Apholyzty), drummer (Emma Blow), keyboardist (Dammy Keys) and bass guitarist (G Base), the band since signing up with Now Muzik have performed at various shows and are now fast becoming a prominent band in Nigeria.
For winning the 2012 edition of Star Quest, the band took home the grand prize of N7.5 million recording contract; a brand new Toyota SUV, one year accommodation in Lagos and other benefits.
