Gunmen Abduct Bauchi Lawmaker

A member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Yusuf Nuhu representing Lame Constituency, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Police Command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the development to journalists on Tuesday, said Nuhu was abducted on Monday night in Zalau Village.

Revealing that the kidnappers abandoned their car and made for the forest with Nuhu during a chase by the Police, he assured that the kidnappers would eventually be apprehended.
“A Police patrol team pursued the kidnappers into a forest on the boundary between Bauchi and Kaduna States”, Mohammed said.

“We have cordoned off the area and we are searching for the kidnappers and their victim. Already, the car has been recovered, and we found eight rounds of ammunition in it”.
Bauchi State is witnessing some resurgence of sorts in kidnapping this month, following Sunday’s abduction of three health workers, two men and a woman ,in Darazo Local Government Area two days ago, during a polio vaccination exercise.

Although two of the workers, a man and a woman have since regained their freedom, the third victim who is the health officer of the local government, Mallam Ali Garba, is still in captivity.
