INEC Registers APC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the application by three political parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) – to merge into one, to be known as the All Progressives Congress.

 

On considering the application, the Commission found that the applicant-parties have met all statutory requirements for the merger, and has accordingly granted their request.

 

Consequently, the Commission has approved the withdrawal of the individual certificates of the applicant-parties, and the issuance of a single certificate to the All Progressives Congress.

Woman Sets 11-yr-old Maid Ablaze Over Piece Of Meat In Lagos

 

Policemen at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command, Tuesday, arrested a woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup.

The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life.

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe is once again speaking about his hatred of homosexuality as he campaigns ahead of the July 31 election. At a rally last week, Mugabe told thousands of supporters that Zimbabwe would never accept anything called Gay, whom he descried as “worse than pigs, goats and birds,” reports Zimbabwe’s Newsday.

“If you take men and lock them in a house for five years and tell them to come up with two children and they fail to do that, then we will chop off their heads.”

Aswad Ayinde, Award-Winning Music Video Director Found Guilty Of Raping His Daughter To Keep His Bloodline 'Pure'

 

 

A jury convicted a Paterson man Friday of raping his daughter in what prosecutors alleged was years of abuse that led to his fathering four children by the girl in an attempt to create his own “blue blood” race. 

Aswad Ayinde, 54, was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault and two counts of aggravated sexual assault. The jury deliberated for about an hour before reaching its decision. 

Ayinde faces 50 years in state prison when sentenced May 27 by state Superior Court Judge Raymond A. Reddin. He remained calm throughout the proceedings.

Nigerians Among 31 Migrants Drowned While Crossing To Italy

 

Italian media reported today that Nigerian migrants were among several dozen people who drowned weekend off the coast of Libya, while attempting to cross into Italy.

Thirty one migrants, including nine women, drowned off the coast of Libya during an attempted crossing to Italy according to survivors who managed to complete the journey, Italian media reported Sunday.

A 53- year-old teacher on Grade Level 10, Asogbon Victoria Abosede, was Thursday, arraigned before Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court One, sitting in Ikeja, for allegedly impersonating the first lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola.

The defendant was said to have sent text messages between June and July to the Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos by falsely presenting herself as first lady of Lagos State and obtained N100, 000 from the chairman.

A Nigerian Nottingham Trent University student who provided Christmas dinners for dozens of fellow international students unable to return home for the holidays has received a prestigious vice-chancellor’s award.

Betty Alali Odema received the award for the quality of her academic work, her contribution to internationalism of the university and her support for fellow overseas students during the annual graduation ceremonies, watched by senior government officials who had travelled from Nigeria.

School Security Guard Rapes Student Inside Classroom

 

A civil engineering graduate from Delta State University, Abraka in Delta State, southsouth Nigeria, who lost his job and was newly employed as a security guard in a private school at Ijegun area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping a student of the school inside the school premises.

It was alleged that the 30-year old security guard, Emeka  Nwabunwane, lured the 18-year old student (name withheld)  to a classroom in the school and raped her when she went to the school to attend a tutorial class in preparation for her Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination.

Beyonce’s Wig Snatched by Fan During Concert

Beyonce’s wig was snatched by a fan during Monday’s concert in Montreal. I prayed that a fan would snatch Beyonce’s wig during her Mrs Carter World Tour, but I didn’t think it would be an electronic fan. 

Still, it was hilarious to watch Beyonce struggling to sing while attempting to free her weave that was caught in the fan’s steely blades. Beyonce’s entourage, including faithful bodyguard Julius, had trouble freeing Beyonce from the fan’s clutches.

Later, Beyonce tried to make light of her embarrassing wig snatching by uploading a note to her personal Tumblr account.

Dwayne Wade's Ex-Wife Takes To The Streets To Protest Against Him

                                   

NBA player Dwayne Wade's ex-wife and mother of his two children, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade on Friday staged a protest against him on the street in Chicago claiming he's worth millions but has left her homeless. 

According to reports, Siohvaughn was ranting about child support, judges, a $90 million contract and "houses on the water."

Dwayne Wade divorced Siohvaughn in 2010 and was awarded full custody of their two sons in 2011 after a public legal battle. Siohvaughn was in court last week to get more money from her ex but it didn't work out well for her so she took to the streets.
